Longest Day of Prayer and Awareness of Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson Disease and Other Related Dementias

Ss. Edward and Isidore Church – 3667 Flintville Rd. Green Bay

Come and Pray for all people dealing with Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson Disease, or other related Dementias. This includes the person with the disease and their caregivers.  We continue to pray for a cure.  A Purple Candle will be lit at Mass and then extinguished after Holy Hour at 8pm.   During the day anyone can come to pray, attend a presentation, or join in a support group.

We will also have a collection for the Alzheimer’s Association and The Brain Center of Green Bay.   The collection box will be in the Gathering Space in church.  Please state the organization you want to donate to on your envelope.  You may put these donations in the collection on the weekends in June, as well.  Please write:  Alzheimer’s Assoc. or Brain Center of GB on the check and envelope

Church opens for prayer:  8:45am – 8:00pm.

Mass: 9:00 – 9:30am (Church)

“Brain Neuroplasticity”:  9:45am – 10:45am (Nelson Hall)

Presented by:  Dr. Rolf Lulloff and Chris Vanden Hoogen, Brain Center of Green Bay

Neuroplasticity refers to the brain's ability to continue to grow, change and evolving in response to life experiences. It helps form both our good and bad habits and is the basis for all new learning, training and rehabilitation. Neuroplasticity is an active and dynamic process that occurs over our lifetime. Let’s take charge of our brains to help keep them sharp and to prevent cognitive decline!

The Brain Center of Green Bay was founded by five healthcare professionals looking to change the way people think about brain disease. Opening minds to a new, powerful approach that explores promising new research and healthy lifestyle patterns. In a world where neurodegenerative disease is relentless, progressive, and incurable, The Brain Center of Green Bay will provide hope to individuals and caregivers through personalized coaching and navigation.

Parkinson Disease Support Group:  11:00am – 12:00pm (Room 222)

All are welcome to share and learn about Parkinson Disease.

“Dementia Conversations: Driving, Doctor Visits, Legal & Financial Planning”:   5:45pm – 6:45pm (Nelson Hall)

Presenter: Kate Kahles, Program Manager,  Alzheimer's Association Wisconsin Chapter

When someone is showing signs of dementia, it’s time to talk. Often, conversations with family about changing behaviors can be challenging and uncomfortable.  This program provides tips for breaking the ice with your family so you can address some of the most common issues that are difficult to discuss:  going to the doctor for a diagnosis or medical treatment, deciding when to stop driving, and making legal and financial plans for future care.

Holy Hour:  7pm – 8pm (Church)

End the day with the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, beautiful music, scripture, and silent prayer.   Purple candle with be extinguished at the end of Holy hour.
